Trends In Headboards In The United States
Dec/090
Fashion and design trends change all the time, with more and more commercial applications and ideas presented to the consumer. Designers play to the fickleness of consumers as well, especially those in the United States, who tend to have a penchant for instant gratification. One of the more popular areas in which design trends are constantly evolving today is the bedroom, with new creative ideas and themes being introduced all the time. At the same time, something that hasn’t changed is the fact that headboards present a central focal point for your bedroom and often dictate much about the rest of the design. Therefore, it’s important to know what’s available in terms of trends in headboards domestically.
There will always be the element of personal taste involved when choosing your bedroom décor, and this includes picking out your headboard. Often, it’s a matter of style that dictates which direction you go in your design theme, especially in terms of modern versus classical designs. If you opt for a modern headboard, you’ll find that your options for the décor and design elements around your bed are different than if you went with an Edwardian style headboard with intricate designs and an imposing size. In the United States, it seems that more consumers are choosing the modern style because it is more simplistic and versatile, making it easier to design around.
Something else that has recently become more and more popular in the United States are upholstered headboards. These are intriguing because you can opt to purchase them pre-upholstered in a design that you like, or you can let your own creativity and style take shape, simply purchasing particle board and cutting it to a shape and size you like and then upholstering it yourself in the material of choice. Either way, you win with the style and have something to help you begin a theme in your room.
A bookcase headboard can be functional as well as look nice, and this has become something of a trend in the U.S. as well, since it allows you to be more organized and create more space in your bedroom while also providing a backdrop for your bedroom design. These are often wood or lacquer and can be painted or stained to match the elements that are most important to you.
For those who enjoy decadence and a sense of old world trends in a more modern style, leather headboards have become a choice purchase. These can have an elegant, pampered appearance and aura that brings peace and comfort to the room, or they can provide a very masculine background for a bachelor pad around which a range of themes from rustic to moneyed can be formed. Of course, your personal sense of style may not fall within any of these trends, but by keeping up with the trends domestically, you’ll have the advantage of knowing what is available and easily found on the market today and what sorts of styles are going to be more difficult to track down.

PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT’S DEATH – The President went to Warm Springs to get in shape for the San Francisco Conference. There the air was soft, the sun warm. By day he went for drives through the green forests. At night he slept in the “Little White House,” a frame cottage atop Pine Mountain. At 1 p.m. on the afternoon of April 12 he was working in his study. Two of his cousins sat nearby. He had just signed a bill extending the life of the Comodity Credit Corporation. He sat at a card table beside the fireplace while an artist made sketches of him. Suddenly he said, “I have a terrific headache.” In a few minutes he lost conciousness. His Negro valet and a Filipino mess boy carried him to the bedroom, laid him on the single bed made of maple. To the little room came Commander H.G. Bruenn, a Navy Doctor, Liet. Commander George Fox, medical aide, and Dr. James Paullin, Atlanta physician. They were the people with him at 3:35 p.m. when Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States, died. The cause of death was a “massive cerebral hemorrhage.” ….. 1945 LIFE Magazine Article, A5331. 19450423
