The first decision you need to make is what type of bed you want your children to have, a bunk, loft, triple, twin, wood or metal. Second is the safety of the bunk bed. After you have reached your bedding type then consider the following safety checklist when shopping:
• Find a dealer you can trust. – Make sure they stand behind their products and can answer any questions regarding the safety of the bed.
• Find out the weight limits on the bunk bed you want to purchase. Last thing you need is to get the bunk bed home and assembled to later find out that the bunk can’t handle the required weight.
• Find out if the bottom of the bed frames has enough room for a box spring mattress to go under the child’s mattress or if the beds have wooden supports for the mattress to sit on. Having a box spring mattress provides more comfort and support.
• Make sure that the bunk beds have plenty of room on the bottom bunk for the kids to sit on comfortably. This will also help keep the kids from always playing on the top bunk where it can be more dangerous.

• The ladder should be securely attached and be wide enough for your child to climb. The ladder should also not be removable by children. Also, make sure the rungs on the ladder are properly spaced; they should not have to take a large step up to step on the next rung.
• Make sure the bunk beds have guardrails all the way around the bed and cannot be removed by children. The guardrails should have to be removed by removing a fastener device or some type of combination pressure lifting.

When you’re shopping for a new bed there are many different choices and directions you can go when choosing the bed that’s right for you. Whether you’re into traditional or modern bedroom furniture choosing the size, materials or where your bed is made can be important decisions when you’re ready to add that new bed to your décor. In this article we’ll look at the five most important points to consider when selecting a new bed and how that choice can be an extension of your own style and tastes.
1. Choosing your bed based on style. Now lets be honest, each one of us has a unique style all our own and we like to express that style through the furniture, artwork and home accessories we have around us. Choosing a bed fits into this much the same way. If your tastes are traditional, modern or transitional you’ll want to keep the style of bed you choose in that same range to better coordinate with the rest of your home.
2. Finding the right construction materials. Today’s furniture is offered in a wide array of materials ranging from solid hardwoods such as oak, maple and hickory to more industrial steels with powder coat finishes. Selecting a bed based on where it is made can be a choice that many of us find to be an important factor in our purchasing decision.
4. Choose your bed based on availability. Many of us want what we want and we want it now. That is perfectly acceptable and in fact understandable. They look great in large Italian rooms, but in our small UK bedrooms might not quite be large enough. In this instance it might be a good idea to buy two tall chests & put the side by side. The Five Big Things to Consider When Shopping For a Bed

When the hour strikes and a new bed is in the cards, it’s not a good thing to delay. Other than the truly overworked, the bed is the place where we will spend the majority of our lives, so we should take the matter seriously. Disrupting your sleep habits will have a negative impact on your work and social life. Likewise, if you have been putting off the purchase of a bed to replace your no-longer viable old standby, get moving. Here are the five things to consider when you want to make the most of your solemn chambers:
1. Location. As with all real estate, this factor is huge. You don’t have to get involved in feng shui or hire a guru, just imagine where in your room your bed will be most appealing. Leave an unobstructed view of the windows, so you can wake up to the sights and sounds of nature. Also, keeping your bed as far away as possible from the door will keep external noises away. Your bed is your sanctuary; make its space holy ground.
2. Size. If you are moving in with a spouse for the first time, try and come to terms on the size of the bed. Remember that arms and limbs are not insignificant. Although you may feel a little silly doing it, try out your bed in the furniture store. Stretch out and see how it feels. Don’t think too big, however: you don’t want to sacrifice intimacy while feeling like a king and queen.
3. The mattress. Perhaps no other piece of home furniture has such a big impact on your life as your bed’s mattress. Go through all the options: it’s worth it. Pillow-top and double-pillow top are extremely luxurious, but will they give you enough support? If you prefer a great deal of support, look into the micro-fiber materials that marry amazing comfort with form-holding resistance. Remember, the box spring or mattress foundation is the final point of shock absorption, so consider it a vital organ in your bed’s system.
4. The frame. Finding the right frame will have a lot to do with the size and layout of your room. Remember that elaborate, antique frames will require a good deal of maintenance. Should you take on this chore with such a piece? Also, if your bed frame consists of metal materials, it may require polishing, or re-staining in the case of wooden frames. There is no point in worrying about maintenance if you absolutely are smitten with your bed; like a musician caring for a prized guitar, it will be a labor of love.
5. Design and aesthetic appeal. Remember that you will not only be sleeping in it, you will be seeing it multiple times every day. Be comfortable with the style and look of your bed, from the frame and bulk of it to the way it looks getting splashed with sunlight. Find a way to have it fit into your overall design. Bed linens and pillows play an important roles in this process, so craft a harmonious color scheme.
