I am planning to buy a queen bed but I don’t want to buy an IKEA mattress. But from IKEA website I found that their queen bed frames fit mattresses of only 79-1/2″ in length while standard mattresses are usually 80″ in length.

Think I’m going to buy a platform bed from either Ikea or West Elm. Do you think using liquid nail/wood glue or something like that would help make it any sturdier or really that has nothing to do with it?
I just don’t want to plop myself down on the bed and it collapses. Or it collapses during sex etc.

Has anyone out there tried to use an Ikea wooden bed with the slatted bottom paired with a traditional mattress & box spring? I would like a high bed, so I want to use both the mattress & box spring, but mostly I want the underbed storage that those bed frames offer and I don’t want to have to buy more than I absolutely must.
